"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." Albert Einstein
Teaching is a joy and a blessing for me. I began teaching privately at the age of 16 and have yet to stop. My degrees are in flute performance and in music education, which is the perfect blend for private teaching. I am open to teaching all age levels and levels of flutists; from the beginner, to the conservatory prep student, to the adult beginner. I am an open-minded teacher, trying new ideas, methods and techniques, as well as new music. You will not find me to be quiet or shy. I have been described as unique and colorful and I value humor and wit, as well as patience, in lessons, and opt to be very real with my students - the result being students who trust me with their musical persuits, who have fun, and who study with me for quite a while. I do expect my students to practice. I cherish each one of them for who they are, and enjoy what each of them bring in personality and character, and musicially to their lessons.
Many of my students are seated at the head of the section in their band classes, some of them have held the honor of principal flute in district or regional honor bands, and some have gone on to study flute in college. My students are encouraged to do Solo & Ensemble contest each year, and also perform in a studio recital. Most of them choose to audition for district honor band, and local college honor bands.
My studio attracts students from the Cincinnati, Dayton, Fairfield, Lebanon, Mason, and Oregonia communities in Ohio. My studio is located in historic Lebanon, Ohio, right in between Cincinnati and Dayton.
I will be accepting students in Tulsa, Oklahoma beginning in September 2007.
